Foy Vance is an Irish singer-songwriter – all dark humor, pretty guitar parts, and incredible singing. He loves to interact with the crowd, and when he really hits his stride it’s downright spiritual.
Unfortunately, on a lot of Foy’s records, all those qualities that make him so special are over-produced right out of existence. The strings and nice soft edges just don’t work for such a raw talent.
So, my advice is to watch him live. Watch videos of him playing live. Watch this video of him playing Guiding Light at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York, and stick it out to the end – it’s worth it. And if he comes around, go to the show, and see this kind of magic in person.
